“… Bill, thank you. The world is a better place, Jobs told Gates after the Microsoft executive agreed to invest $ 150 million in Apple. “…… Cover of Time Magazine

INTRODUCTION:

Our great industry… and your customer markets… are NOT…. a zero-sum game.

Steve Jobs and Bill Gates had to come to this personal understanding. Software and computers … and they have … before their branch …!

Some of you read the story of how … 20 years ago … Bill Gates loaned Steve Jobs – $ 150 million – to save Apple – probably … Microsoft’s top, but desperate … fighting … competitor. (Banks would not touch Apple at this point. Since that agreement, the valuations of these two companies have “flipped”.)

This move, initiated by Steve Jobs at a critical moment in Apple’s life, created a unique working relationship between the two organizations – that we all … really the whole world… Has benefited.

My observation is that … most organizations have … capabilities – not just their target customers and prospects – but also …. close competitors – could sometimes use.

On a new one Peer group conference call (we manage 4 peer groups), testimonials were heard on the following topics:

  • Suppliers who work hard to become one-stop suppliers to target customers.
  • Multiple (including major national) competitors … are more likely to buy … from multiple reporting peer group members.
  • How many peer group members… reported the best December and January of all time… partly from the purchases of the competitors ………!
  • How several peer group members … regularly send “blast emails” … to important managers – in the case of competitors … re. their unusual skills – … even offer virtual training sessions – to feed their residues …!

SUMMARY:

Almost everyone … has something … knows something … I have to learn … and use … to improve our service … to those we serve …!

Market conditions drive the winners … and include:

  • Radically reduced delivery times.
  • Suppliers … don’t want to force a valued customer … to find another supplier.
  • Buyers who don’t wait … or put off … the deliveries and service they need.
  • Customers have to change … all the time …!
  • With faster changing market conditions and commercial needs … suppliers learn to trust … competitors … need them.

What would you do with an additional $ 10,000 to $ 50,000 business – every month …?

What if Steve Jobs hadn’t called Bill Gates? (Steve Jobs genius … showed … in so much that he touched …!)

Which competitor should you call … that you don’t have …?

“That (working relationship) worked out really well,” says Gates … “In fact, there was something new we could do on your Mac every few years or so … and it was a great deal for us.”What Happened When Microsoft Saved Apple?
