Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner has been an extremely popular and integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he replaced Edward Norton and made his debut as Hulk in The Avengers, but there is a creeping suspicion that the franchise may run out of things to do with it.
We saw the giant green rage monster find its way through the Chitauri while his ultimately abandoned arc with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow in Age of Ultron and beyond felt like a half-hearted stab into emotional development before Thor: Ragnarok him to the besieged straight man to Chris Hemsworth’s charismatic tour de force and finally Avengers: Endgame gave the audience the best of both worlds with the intelligent version of the character. Well, if a new report is to be believed, Hulk could go back to its roots in the future, with plans for a wilder and more powerful version of what has become a pretty cheerful green giant lately. Unfortunately, there aren’t many more details, but the upcoming Disney Plus series She-Hulk will mark Ruffalo’s eighth MCU credit, so we’ll no doubt have a much better idea of where he’s going when the show comes to an end.
Granted, the rumor is based on the idea of a Hulk vs. Wolverine Film that coincides with the launch of Amadeus Cho, both of which have been highly speculated but nowhere near confirmed, so it’s hard to understand what Marvel has in store for the big one until we see Ruffalo’s next chapter play out when Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters makes her theatrical debut, and we know she’s already considered a future avenger.
