Cape Branding Companies takes on digital printing with Xerox

Cape Branding Services (CBS) expands its new digital printing division with the introduction of a Xerox Color C70 printer from Cape Office Machines and Bytes Document Solutions.

The new printer marks a natural evolution of CBS’s wholesale printing services for the promotional gift industry and opens up a range of new digital printing services the company can offer its established customer base.

CBS executive Anthony Innes says that while digital printing isn’t the company’s core business, it has the potential to become one.

“When we started doing business, we saw a niche in the market for mass printing on imported pens, and at the height of that business, we were printing 1,000 to 20,000 pens a day for a variety of customers,” says Innes.

“This level of business naturally brought with it the demand for other printing jobs, mostly from our customers. Initially it was just about helping them with ‘crisis’ jobs that other printers couldn’t handle. This opened the door to a dedicated digital printing service and we have chosen the industry standard for digital printing equipment – Xerox – to do this. “

Innes and the owner of CBS, Sonja Cornelissen, were introduced to Cape Office Machines by a mutual customer ‘I Am Green’ who had also bought a Xerox C70 for very similar reasons.

“What initially impressed us about Cape Office Machines was their willingness to take the time to understand our business before discussing machines,” says Cornelissen.

Innes adds that while the digital printing business began with a standard range of products like business cards, flyers, brochures and introductory catalogs, it now plans to expand into more specialized products like digital transfers and transparencies.

“This is where the Xerox C70 shines with its versatility and color fastness,” he says. “We have customers who come to us for pens, t-shirts and caps and leave us individually printed labels and boxes of color-coordinated stationery. Most of these customers have used other printers for this job before and now. We have a single point of contact for any printing needs we want to create. “

Cornelissen agrees, adding that communication and customer service have become very important as the digital printing business is much more customer-centric. “We are not only dealing with the end user and manufacturer, but in this industry we also have to deal with the middleman – the print brokers. So it is important that we are cost-efficient, responsive and on the ball when it comes to this . ” to marketing and communication, “she says.

“There was a time when we were overwhelmed by all the new options, especially when it came to consumables, but Cape Office Machines and Sheena Oosthuizen (Cape Office Consumables Manager) in particular put us at ease, walked us through the process and always have been still at our side whenever we need advice and information. The aim now is to find customers who are like-minded in terms of service and quality, but who still respond to our pricing model, according to which the sky is the limit, “concludes Cornelissen.

Cape Office Machine’s digital printing specialist Bryn Whithair says, “As a service provider, we want to offer our customers more than just products, we want a platform on which to build and diversify their business. The Xerox C70 is an ideal foundation for this.” Build this platform, but it’s only part of a much larger solution that includes business planning, product refinement, and consumables. “

The Xerox Color C70 is a versatile all-in-one print, scan and photocopier station that offers market-leading print quality and speed at an affordable price. With a high resolution 2400 x 2400 dpi engine with speeds of up to 70 pages per minute (color) and 75 pages per minute (black and white), the C70 offers offset quality output with Xerox Emulsion Aggregation (EA) technology enabled with low melt toner a wide range of print media.

The Xerox C70 offers licensed Pantone matching for spot colors for the Pantone Matching System, Pantone GOETM and Pantone PLUS.
