Clarence Wesley (CW) Fite was born on October 12, 1942 in Breckenridge, Texas, to Arthur Lee and Maggie Compton Fite. He had four siblings; Charlie Lee Fite, John Elbridge Fite, Doris Fite Thornton and Helen Fite Boykin. On June 20, 1970, he married Patsy Renfroe. They had one child, David Wesley Fite, and CW adopted his two stepchildren in 1973.
CW graduated from SMU in Dallas and was a runner on the Mustang Track Team. He also served in the United States Army reserves for 7 1/2 years, serving as crew chief and flying helicopters.
Before moving to Greenville, he worked for Texas Instruments and National Life Insurance Co. in Sherman and Paris. He owned and operated the Foot of the Hill grocery store in Greenville, which he closed in 1987. He then worked for Crawford-Smith in Greenville for 27 years and retired from there in 2015.
CW & Patsy were married for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife Patsy, son David and wife Lisa Fite, son Charles Allen Fite, and daughter Cheri Lynn Fite. He has 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charlie and sister Helen.
He was a Baptist. He loved his family and was a friend to everyone he met. He greeted everyone with a smile, helped people when he could, liked to tell jokes and is missed by everyone who knew him.
