Epson Introduces Matte Black Ink for the ColorWorks C6000-Sequence On-Demand Coloration Label Printers

New matte black ink provides crisp, sharp black text and images, ideal for warehouse and manufacturing applications

LOS ALAMITOS, CALIFORNIA – March 3, 2021 – Epson announced today that it is expanding its on-demand color label printing options to include the ColorWorks®C6000 series of matte black ink printers. The ColorWorks C6000 series – CW-C6500P, CW-C6500A, CW-C6000P, and CW-C6000A – now offer both glossy and matte ink options. Ideal for shipping or warehouse labels, the new matte black creates crisp black text and images on matte, plain, or textured paper media.

The new matt black ink is particularly suitable for warehouse and manufacturing environments for printing shipping or barcode labels. ColorWorks C6000 series customers now have the option to choose between glossy black UltraChrome® DL ink or matte black UltraChrome DL ink, which are both BS5609 certified1 and highly resistant pigment-based inks. In comparison, the glossy black ink is designed to print on a wider variety of substrates, while the matte black ink provides darker black text and images on matte media. The same cyan, magenta and yellow inks are used for both blacks.

“Many companies are realizing that the traditional two-step printing process of purchasing thousands of preprinted labels and adding variable black text via monochrome thermal printing is obsolete and inefficient,” said Bonny Rindahl, product manager, Commercial Labels at Epson America, Inc. “Regardless Whether you are making complex information labels, shipping labels, or high quality product labels, Epson understands the importance of having versatile ink options that best suit your labeling application. ”

The ColorWorks CW-C6500P, CW-C6500A, CW-C6000P, and CW-C6000A were developed for business-critical applications and are the first printers specifically designed as a color upgrade for black-only thermal transfer printers.2 The CW-C6500P and CW-C6000P is the first color inkjet printer to support peel-and-present functions for quick manual or automated label application. 3 The CW-C6500A and CW-C6000A have an automatic cutter that creates variable length labels and enables easy job separation. Often used for on-demand production and printing of warehouse labels, the ColorWorks C6000 series, in conjunction with the new matte black ink, is designed to produce high quality labels with rich images and dark blacks.
