Genshin Influence Reveals Hu Tao Banner Begin Date

Genshin Impact finally reveals the start and end dates for the upcoming Pyro character Hu Tao’s character event wish, which players can use to summon them.

Genshin Impact Players spent the first few months of 2021 familiarizing themselves with the elusive Adeptus Xiao, who was introduced to the game as part of the 1.3 version update. Before version 1.4 is released, players will have the opportunity to meet another new five-star character: Hu Tao.

Travelers have been expecting pyro wearer Hu Tao for some time, but her exact arrival date was completely unknown until recently. With Keqing’s own character event request coming to an end, Genshin Impact has officially announced that Hu Tao will receive their own “Special Banner” this March.

Hu Tao is featured as part of the “Moment of Bloom” character event request, which starts on March 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. and ends on March 16, 2021 at 2:59 p.m. (server time). She will appear alongside the existing four-star characters Xiangling (Pyro Polearm), Chongyun (Cryo-Claymore), and Xingqiu (Hydro Sword) and, like other new five-star characters, will only be available through her Character Event Wish.

Hu Tao has been in the works for a while and players already have a fair, if unofficial, idea of what their style of play will be. The Pyro Polearm has a special shot that goes through enemies, and its purported abilities suggest that it will act as some sort of DPS healer, like the popular Bennett character.

Hu Tao seems to be able to “curse” himself with a HP reduction that increases her damage significantly. Additionally, your Elemental Burst is designed to heal teammates based on the number of enemies hit. When many players observe Hu Tao’s movements in recently released videos, they can’t help but feel like she resembles a cross between Qiqi, the cryo sword user, and Tartaglia, one of the game’s hydro characters.

Despite similarities to Qiqi, which heals through damage, and Tartaglia, which can “curse” enemies, Hu Tao seems like a completely unique addition to the game. While there are of course characters with similar abilities, none of them is an offensive polearm user. Genshin Impact recently also unveiled an incredible five-star polearm called the Staff of Homa, which pairs wonderfully with Hu Tao. Between her interesting mobility options and her ability to hurt enemies while supporting her own team, she’ll likely be a welcome addition to any gamer’s character roster.

Genshin Impact is now available in the App Store, Google Play, PC and PS4 and is currently under development for PS5 and Switch.
