James David Ramsey, 90, of Cleveland, passed away on Monday March 1, 2021 at a local assisted living facility.

He was born in Chattanooga and has lived in Cleveland for over 50 years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a branch manager at Sherwin-Williams for many years.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Madge R. Ramsey; Parents, James and Mattie Ramsey; and sister Shirley Ramsey.

He is survived by his son Michael “Ed” Ramsey and his wife Robin of Lenoir City. Daughter Laurin “Becky” Guthrie and husband Ken from Cleveland; three grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Detty and husband Steven from Arlington, Texas, Abby Lauren Brown and husband Cameron from Lenoir City, and Emily Anne Guthrie and husband Michael Aurand from Nashville; and great-grandchildren: Arlen Turner, Cambrey Brown and Sora Vee Brown.

A private celebration of his life at the grave will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, under the direction of Rev. Jim Gibson. Playing the bagpipes concludes the service.

Instead of flowers, the family asks for donations to the First Baptist Church.
