Discover how the HP Latex R-Series enables Left Bank Art Group fine art printer to print on a variety of substrates and grow their business.

With more than 30 years of experience in art print, the Left Bank Art Group has made a name for itself in Australia for presenting art in its most beautiful form and for pushing boundaries with innovative technology. They work with local artists and interior designers to reproduce their creations and also offer bespoke packaging to their clients.

Mastering challenges

As the business expanded over the years, the company encountered a number of challenges. Toby Simm, director and owner of Left Bank Art Group, Southport, said, “The biggest challenge in our business has been making sure costs are low and turnaround times are short.”

Partnering with HP has helped them overcome these hurdles. In addition to expanding into new segments, they are also working with artists to reproduce their art on a variety of substrates that exceed customer expectations.

Left Bank invested in the HP Latex R2000 Plus Printer to produce high quality prints and has risen to become one of the top players in the industry. Sim says, “We are now becoming known nationwide as the leaders in fine art print quality. The colors that the R series produces … I’ve never seen anything like it. Investing in this printer has been best for our business. The first print of this machine was our logo on a piece of plywood. The sharpness of the reproduction was incredible. I knew at that moment that I had made the right decision, ”he adds.

Seize opportunities with HP Latex White Ink

The HP Latex R-Series has allowed the company to venture into new areas and offer enhanced applications to artists across the country. “The HP Latex R-Series does what the UV solvent printers couldn’t. We can print on wood, glass, tiles; and the results are always sharp and high resolution. We can now offer vibrant colors and sharper details, ”says Toby.

Accurate color rendering of original artwork and other products has also given them a competitive advantage. He adds, “The opacity of the White Ink is amazing. You can print on almost anything. We can now also offer new products such as wallpaper and leather chairs for interior design – no other company in the local market can do that. We also offer our artists personalization for the packaging to create a more individual experience. “

Crossing boundaries with higher productivity

The company was able to cut production time in half. The HP R-series printer has automated several manual processes, helping to save material and reduce waste – all amid the ongoing pandemic. In Toby’s words: “We can print directly onto our substrates and achieve more vivid colors at higher speeds (40 m² / h compared to> 10 m² / h before). With the HP Latex R series, we now print twice as fast and the quality lasts much longer. “

Print while protecting the environment

Left Bank Art Group continues to be committed to protecting the planet and is committed to adopting sustainable business practices wherever possible. Toby explains, “With the water-based inks, the entire printing cycle is odorless. It’s much safer for our employees and our customers. I know that what I offer my customers cannot harm them or the environment. This is a huge bonus point for me. “

Future with HP

The investment has paid off quite well and the company is now looking towards a better future. “With the HP R series, we can think outside the box with our artists. We look forward to working with them on creative projects like printing exhibition stands, tiles, chairs, and even vegan leather. Our company probably wouldn’t be here without the help of HP people as we grow our business. Our relationship with HP goes beyond training on the new possibilities around the printer. It’s based on mutual trust and a lasting relationship, ”summarizes Toby as he prepares to monitor a new print job.
