GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Yesterday was an exciting addition for Meijer when the retailer officially opened the doors to Meijer new banner shop called the capital market. The new store in downtown Lansing, Michigan also represents Meijer’s entry into a new market.
“Meijer is committed to our communities and that is why we are so proud that Capital City Market will help meet a need in downtown Lansing when we open our doors next month,” said Rick Keyes, President and CEO by Meijer, published in a September press release. “The team is working hard to get ready and we’re looking forward to it Collaboration with community partners to achieve a positive impact in the region. ”
The 37,000-square-foot store will offer a wide variety of fresh and prepared foods, as well as an estimated 3,000 local artisanal products. The Capital City Market will also have garage doors that open to you outdoor fresh produce and flower area in the warmer months as well as a mural with colorful products on the side of the building.
The market focuses on bringing a mix of fresh, practical foods and value to customers in the region, marking the retailer’s first small-format store in mid-Michigan, according to Store Manager Mitch Cook. It is Michigan’s third retail store following the opening of the Bridge Street Market in August 2018 and the Woodward Corner Market opening in January 2020.
“I have a great team and I am confident that Capital City Market will make sure of that a unique shopping experience to customers in downtown Lansing, ”said Cook, who joined Meijer in 2018 with over 15 years of retail experience. “We are excited to open our doors, be a good neighbor and work every day to have the best products on our shelves.”
