“TrafficWorks provides the user with the critical hardware, software, and training required to get the job done.” – Kit Jones, Roland DGA Co-Creation Product Manager

Roland DGA, in partnership with leading media manufacturer ORAFOL, has launched Roland DGA TrafficWorks ™ – a turnkey traffic sign printing solution that enables print service providers to expand their product offerings and create new revenue streams. TrafficWorks also provides traffic sign companies with an affordable, easy-to-use solution for in-house production of traffic signs and all of the other applications that award-winning TrueVIS ™ VG2 printers / cutters are known for.

Roland DGA TrafficWorks is a complete, reliable, all-in-one solution that simplifies the design and printing of MUTCD, ASTM, and FHWA-compliant industry-standard traffic signs while minimizing production costs. The TrafficWorks solution, based on the TrueVIS ™ VG2 large format printers / cutters from Roland DG and GREENGUARD certified TR2 inks with a large color gamut, contains all the tools required to produce colored, reflective and color-compliant traffic signs. The complete package includes either a VG2-640 or a VG2-540, a powerful, user-friendly Roland DGA TrafficWorks design and RIP software (supported by SAi) with MUTCD-compatible drawing templates, a traffic-specific color library, fonts and user-defined profiles. ORAFOL 5900 reflective media and 5061 laminate plus Roland DGA certification and a digital training course. Customers who already have a VG2 inkjet with an 8-color configuration with orange ink can only purchase the “kit” part of the solution, which includes all other packaging components except the VG2 printer / cutter.

The Roland DGA TrafficWorks Certification Program provides end-users with general training on MUTCD, ASTM, and FHWA traffic sign standards, as well as instructions on how to make signs with the VG2.

Dealers must also complete a Roland DGA certification program prior to being approved to sell the TrafficWorks solution.

The inkjet printers of the TrueVIS VG2 series not only deliver vivid, color-conforming and long-lasting graphics, but also have an integrated contour cut with an output of up to 500 G. The extended functions and simple operation of the VG2, together with the special, intuitive Roland DGA TrafficWorks design and RIP software, enable an optimized workflow for printing high-quality, color-conforming traffic signs. Those equipped with a VG2 printer / cutter and the TrafficWorks package can also create traditional signage and graphics applications, including banners, decals, vehicle graphics, and more.

“Historically, the road sign markets have been dominated by screen printers, vinyl cutters and large, expensive digital printers,” said Kitt Jones, product manager, Roland DGA Co-Creation. “The Roland DGA TrafficWorks solution offers a complete, low-cost alternative that makes creating color-conforming traffic signs not only easier, but also more cost-effective than ever. TrafficWorks provides the user with the critical hardware, software, and training required to get the job done. “

According to Jones, the wide color gamut of the TrueVIS VG2 printer / cutter and its TR2 inks are also beneficial for TrafficWorks users. “Unlike most competitive signage systems, the TrafficWorks solution lets you print everything from road signs to photorealistic prints without using specially formulated spot color inks,” added Jones. “That saves end users even more time and money.”

Roland DGA’s traffic sign printing solution is available immediately through certified and authorized Roland DGA TrafficWorks dealers in the United States. This solution is currently only available to US customers.
