RenAM 500Q Multiplies by four the Variety of Lasers Used Throughout Printing

The IAM 3D HUB digital innovation center has just added Renishaw’s latest metal 3D printing model, the RenAM 500Q, to its facilities. In this way, the hub replaces the previous models AM 250 and AM 400 with the latter with four 500 W high-power lasers, which enable more precise build rates and are up to four times faster than previous systems.

With the new equipment from Renishaw, stainless steel parts can be produced at a production rate of up to 150 cm3 / h. The proximity between the lasers in the optical system significantly reduces thermal errors and ensures that all lasers have simultaneous access to the entire workbench surface. As with the previous models, the construction volume remains 250 mm x 250 mm x 350 mm.

800 m2 with the latest 3D printing technology

This new addition complements the expansion that the IAM 3D HUB has made in its facilities in recent months: it covers an area of almost 800 m2 (including the exhibition hall, showroom for printed parts, metal printing area, BASF materials laboratory, 3D printing pilot plant) . In addition to integrating Renishaw’s new metal printing equipment, the hub has expanded its fleet of state-of-the-art HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printers. The company currently has 16 industrial printers as well as the post-processing and parts cleaning stations from HP. In addition, despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, BASF opened a new laboratory for materials testing with the support of Forward AM. In this new space of the hub there are various filament printing devices and photosensitive resins, as well as technologies for cleaning and post-processing the various parts.

Via the IAM 3D HUB

The IAM 3D HUB is a digital innovation center specializing in additive manufacturing and 3D printing, whose mission is to promote the introduction of additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies in the industrial sector of the European Union as an alternative to the design, development and production of new products to speed up and services that strengthen its competitiveness. The IAM 3D HUB offers a one-stop-shop service that advises and guides companies who want to rely on 3D printing. And it contributes to a new era of tool-free code-to-material production as a fast, safe and efficient manufacturing method. It is an initiative by HP, the Leitat Technological Center, Renishaw, Forward AM from BASF and Abrast from Coniex as technology partners, as well as the 3D Factory Incubator, the first 3D printing incubator in Europe, and the Fira de Barcelona next door Salon: INDUSTRIE ‘From needs to solutions’ was founded. With the support of ACCIÓ, the agency for the competitiveness of Catalan companies affiliated to the Ministry of Enterprise and Knowledge of the Generalitat (Government) of Catalonia. The hub is located in the Leitat Technology Center in Terrassa near Barcelona.
