PHOENIXVILLE, PA. – (Business Wire) – The pandemic has accelerated the obsolescence of old wired printers that cannot be remotely accessed. The devices are still working, but with shuddering offices and social distancing practices, their ROI has been drastically reduced. SEH Technology, Inc., the US subsidiary of network solution innovator SEH Computertechnik GmbH, today announced the ONE print server, an entry-level print server that companies can use to increase the value of old printers.
“Most printers have Internet printing capabilities, but end users need to install printer-specific software in order to use them. Then IT bears the burden of supporting all of that software,” said Mike Majewski, President and CEO of SEH Technology. “Printserver ONE does not require any client software to run. It offers IT a single administration console that supports most USB-compatible printers.”
The ONE print server can be used with inkjet, laser, label, dot matrix and barcode printers as well as plotters, multifunction devices, digital copiers and more. It supports Ethernet networks and offers enterprise-class security features such as encryption, user authentication and access control. In addition, the print server ONE has a USB 3.0 Superspeed connection for higher-performance throughput.
The print server ONE can be managed centrally with the SEH Product Manager, which enables simple, browser-based configuration, administration, monitoring and maintenance via a Microsoft Windows or MacOS computer. The software supports popular printer management tools such as EpsonNet Config and SNMP-based tools.
Like all products from SEH Technology, Printserver ONE also offers free support and updates as well as a guarantee that can be extended from 36 to 60 months by simply registering for the free extension of 24 months.
Connect encrypted and unencrypted networks to the same printer
The print server ONE can be used for encrypted or unencrypted data traffic. Users on both networks can access the same printer at the same time without compromising the secure network that is attractive to defense companies, healthcare providers, and other types of businesses that maintain networks with different levels of security.
“We encrypt the printing processes independently of the network so that outsourced talent and remote workers can access a printer without endangering the company network,” said Majewski.
The print server ONE supports SSL and TLS-encrypted printing via a LAN, a VPN or the Internet as well as ThinPrint and ThinPrint SSL printing. It also supports IPSec tunnels, certificates, and IEEE 802.1X authentication. Companies retain full control over who can print what, where and when, for example by publishing a list of IP addresses or subnets that are authorized to send print commands and reinforcing them with password protection.
Some companies use SEH Technology’s print server products to avoid supplier loyalty.
Printserver ONE is available now
The print server ONE is available for large distributors such as Ingram Micro and Synnex as well as for resellers such as CDW.
